Eden (Cacharel), composed by Jean Guichard, came out thirty years ago and was a rare case of perfect design coherence. I normally do not care much about bottles, but this one was a marvel of Japanese-inspired design; it had a unique satin feel and looked good in all sizes. This was the design work of Annegret Beier, a brilliant graphic artist and typeface designer who had worked with Herb Lubalin and Robert Delpire. I would love to know whether she smelled the perfume before deciding on the color. If not, then there is in fact a God, because the agreement between smell and color is uncanny.
