I just received my copy of American Legends and can reveal that it is a colossal work of scholarship and a magnificent book. Never has so much accurate, hard-to-find, sometimes confidential information about perfume been contained in a single volume. This book is the perfect antidote to the fuzzy, mendacious PR stuff usually peddled as perfume history. At $150 it is, in my opinion, a bargain. I will be quoting from it for years to come.
