Faizal Privée
maniguette
The owner of London-based Faizal Privée, Faizal Patel, sent a few samples at the urging of Rajesh Balkrishnan, who apparently had a hand in several. These are extrait concentrations, and their combination of huge power and closely-held aura is growing on me. To my mind—and I am a noob when it comes to the high-end perfumery of the subcontinent—these are fine instances of an emerging form, which adheres to a lush, South Asian aesthetic while using new materials and striving for a more structured, less merely perfumey vibe. The whole field is a work in progress. These feel like interim reports from a style that I predict will be a major player in the near future.
