Jamie Frater, owner and perfumer at Frater, collects perfumes, studied at the Royal College of Music, collects strange facts, created (then sold) Listverse, and has written five books of lists. As a perfume collector myself, aficionado of the Guinness Book of Records, classical music maven, and former tedious “little professor,” as Hans Asperger put it, I feel a sense of kinship, even though I would be incapable of composing a perfume. If indeed the fragrances are composed by him without the help of a professional, hats off. They are solid, polished pieces of work. He sent samples and let me know he had got into perfumery because of our book. This, of course, will not influence in any way my assessment of his creations: perish the thought.
