I got a text message from my colleague and erstwhile mentor Roger Duprey, perfumer and chemist extraordinaire. It said, “Have you smelled the new range of Lynx Fine Fragrances?” From long experience, I take even low-key hints from Roger as direct orders, so I went to not just one, but two large supermarkets to procure the Lynx range. The LFF shelf at the first one had been ransacked, and I had to reach to the back to fish out three of the five. Clearly someone else had got a text from Roger. The second supermarket had displayed them less prominently, and I managed to get two more. There is some confusion as to how many there are in total, and whether or not White Oak (not there) is part of the range. The Lynx Fine Fragrance website shows five as the “set”, but then lists six. I now have the five. They cost me £5 each, i.e. roughly the same as three spritzes of a Tom Ford.
