โgalbanum, earthy, lettuce, tropical, cabbage.โ That sounds up my street. I don't mean that sarcastically. The packaging is very lovely indeed. What a pleasure to open such a thing!
While I'm here and hopefully have the ear of the most relevant person/expert I know of on this subject, namely yourself, Luca Turin - do you have any thoughts on Iso E Super? I recently tried on Esplendor Granado, by Granado and there it was - that aroma chemical - almost as bad as Calone, to my nose. I find it loathsome and it even affects some of my walks around the hills of Edinburgh, because so many people wear perfume that features it. Or is it ambroxan, or both? Perhaps you'll know what the particular component is in Esplendor that's so strong. (Google ai suggested it's Iso E Super). It's like singed hair and TCP to my nose! If enough people dislike it, I suppose the perfume companies might star to ease off? Hopefully?
I was one of the winners of Mr. Turin's recent Notes Shanghai giveaway. It's big enough to stun an ox. I could smell the Passion Chypre decant when I opened my mailbox, and it off gassed in my apartment for a week before I even sprayed it on my skin. By then I was half-expecting to be completely sick of it, but no.
It's so dense it's hard to fully read, but after a few wears I can say 1) it's definitely a chypre to me; it has that familiar tangy-bittersweet structure, and 2) the passionfruit has a lot of rose in it. So this strikes me as very kin to the '80s ultraroses I know, like Paris and especially Knowing. And I like fruity florals, the more lip-smacking the better (Calyx is one of favorite beddy-bye-time scents), so I'm pretty sure I like this. (I have to try it more.) Fragrances this bold and loudโas long as I'm not smelling it against my willโwill always amuse the hell out of me.
I'm already in love with Passion Chypre after your review. It goes straight to the top of my "to try" list.
Do they have a website? I couldn't find one.
Not yet, but soon I hope.
Such brilliant writing consoles me for not having the perfume!

I doubt that's isoE, pretty quiet "effect" aromachemical. My guess is you're reacting to monster woody-ambers.
Ok thanks. Ambroxan, again, maybe!

Did I mention it was pretty strong? :-D
I left my decant in the pocket of my shirt. And the shirt went into the washing machine. And then the dryer.
I AM DYING. But my flannel shirts smell real good.
This sounds wonderful
I love the original Arielle Shoshana, to me its the epitome of a passionfruit fragrance!
