Ponte Etereo
together at last
Tracy Tsefalas runs a wonderful shop in Portland, OR called Fumerie Parfumerie. I visited several times, even gave brief talks to her assembled customers and enjoyed every minute of her company. She has unerring taste and vast knowledge, and people who breeze into Fumerie get a perfume education as well as a bottle or three. Fusciuni is one of the leading lights of renascent Italian niche perfumery and has some great fragrances to his name. They kindly sent me a sample of their joint creation Ponte Etereo (ethereal bridge). It is an extraordinarily dense, compact accord of camphoraceous, smoky, woody and earthy notes, a sort of Tiger Balm for the soul. The feeling it gives is a somber but beguiling darkness that reminds me of Regerโs Toteninsel, a musical essay on Bรถcklinโs atmospheric painting. Love it.

This may well be the first time that Reger and scent have been discussed together! Nietzsche is grinning and Hanslick is groaning.
I appreciate Meo Fusciuni's work because it's so poetic and sombre but it is certainly not everybody's cup of tea. I hope Ponte Etereo will be available worldwide as well.
