Niche perfumery curse of having a really strong original lineup and then releasing flat nothings later on. What causes this? Who knows. Few have broken this pattern.

Can't say specifically, but generally speaking the equation is S= ax^2+ bx +cdx/dt , where S is sales and x is the number of fragrances in your lineup. The first term is network effect if your stuff is great, the second term is the size of your lineup in the store, and the derivative term is how much your products get talked about, which pretty much only happens when you release new ones. a < b and c>>a. The rest follows.
