As soon as I get my gold-plated public sector pension (citation needed), I’m going to commission a perfume called Steam Coal for my railway enthusiast friend. I’m trying to figure out what would be in a tartan Thermos accord.

'Ignoring the small matter of wings' that made me laugh outloud. I have several Vial del Profumo perfumes, the beautiful Ylang-Ylang based Tasmeen being one of my favourites. Given today's crazy perfume pricing a bespoke perfume by mr Dubrana begins to be more of an option. Light from Above sounds gorgeous, and has a beautiful name.

That sounds lovely.

I've long wanted to take one of his classes, I've heard it's an amazing experience.

ps for those who don't know Via del Profumo, they are not expensive and come in lovely bottles.

Those are a lot of the same notes I would have chosen. In fact I was on the hunt for a rose/elemi/osthmanthus for a long time and a rose/hyssop/cardamon. Still no luck. I might need to mosey on over there to his site!

This is so interesting, to look at approaches to natural perfumery by folks across the globe. I just got some Di Ser samples and they feel unlike what I've seen of natural perfumery in the U.S. (Not that I've seen a lot, I typically keep my eyes on my own paper...).

Wonderful! Some 10 years ago I considered taking his perfume course but then life happened and I couldn't go. Then by chance recently I've met a guy who took the course a long time ago and he is actually mixing perfumes for himself and friends ever since then. He promised to make a bespoke perfume for me, I only have to choose the notes. It's interesting that the first note that I chose was osmanthus.

I am reminded inevitably of "stratospheric light and ice" (see LT passim) in another incensey-floral.
